There's no legal requirement to replace it just because it's old, but if it's a rewireable fuse box without RCD protection, it doesn't meet current standards — and your EICR will flag that. Most homeowners replace voluntarily once they see the report.

Reddish has one of the better mill conversions in Greater Manchester at Houldsworth Mill. The building is now apartments, retail, and offices, with modern electrical infrastructure — when work is needed there, it's usually small (additional sockets, faulty light fittings) rather than fundamental. The streets that originally housed the mill workers — particularly around Houldsworth Square and Broadstone Road — are tightly packed Victorian and Edwardian terraces that come up regularly for EICR and rewire work.
