A monobloc (or “through-the-wall”) unit is a single sealed unit with no separate outdoor box. It only needs two small holes drilled through an external wall for the vents, then wiring in. Because the refrigerant circuit is sealed and pre-charged, no F-Gas certificate is needed — it is straightforward electrician’s work.

Not for monobloc units — the sealed system means no refrigerant handling on site, so we install them directly. Traditional split systems (with a separate outdoor unit and refrigerant pipework) do legally require F-Gas-certified work; for those, we carry out the electrical side and handle the refrigerant install through our F-Gas partners.

Yes — that is one of their biggest advantages. With no outdoor condenser unit, they avoid the planning and freeholder issues that often block split-system AC on flats, in conservation areas and on listed buildings.

Modern monobloc units provide genuine, effective cooling for a room — many also offer heating. We will size the unit to the room so it actually keeps you cool through the hottest spells, not just on a mild day.
