Electric Underfloor Heating

Electric (or “dry”) systems use heating mats or wires and are ideal for single rooms and retrofits — they are quick to fit and sit just under the floor finish. Water (“wet”) systems are better suited to whole-house or new-build projects. We install electric systems, which are the practical choice for bathrooms, kitchens and individual rooms.

It works best under tile and stone, which conduct heat well. It can also go under engineered wood and quality LVT with the right system, and insulation boards underneath improve efficiency. It is not suitable under thick, deep-pile carpet.

Used sensibly it is very economical — especially in bathrooms where you heat the room quickly when needed. A programmable or smart thermostat and proper floor insulation keep running costs down by only heating when and where you want it.

Yes. Electric underfloor heating needs a dedicated, RCD-protected circuit and a correctly wired floor sensor and thermostat, and the work is notifiable under Part P. We handle the electrical side and coordinate with your tiler or floor fitter.
