Electrical Wiring Repair

Common warning signs include flickering or dimming lights, burning smells near sockets or switches, frequent tripping of circuit breakers, discoloured or warm face plates, buzzing sounds from outlets, and scorch marks around plug points. If you notice any of these, switch off the affected circuit and call an electrician immediately.

Yes. Faulty wiring is one of the leading causes of electrical fires in the UK, responsible for thousands of house fires each year. Even intermittent faults can indicate deteriorating insulation or loose connections that may arc and ignite nearby materials. Prompt repair is always the safest course of action.

We start by isolating the affected circuit for safety, then use professional testing equipment to pinpoint the exact fault. Once diagnosed, we will explain the issue and provide a quote for the repair. Most single-circuit repairs are completed the same day. On completion, we test the circuit fully and provide a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate.

Many home insurance policies cover the cost of repairing damage caused by electrical faults, such as fire or water damage, but not always the electrical repair itself. We recommend checking your policy wording. We can provide detailed invoices and reports to support any claim you need to make.

Absolutely. We have extensive experience working with older Manchester properties that may still have outdated rubber or lead-sheathed cabling. Where a full rewire is not yet necessary, we carry out targeted repairs and upgrades to keep you safe. If we find the wiring is beyond repair, we will advise honestly on the best next step.
