Garden Room Power, Lighting & Data in Steel Conduit — Hyde
Power, lighting and a hardwired data connection installed for a new outdoor garden room in Hyde, with all cable containment run in steel conduit for robust mechanical protection.
What we did on this Hyde job
The detail behind the project — what the client needed, how we approached it, and what was specified for the future.
A homeowner in Hyde had a new outdoor garden room built and brought us in to power it properly — supplying it with power, lighting and a hardwired data connection so the structure works as a genuine, connected room rather than just a shell at the bottom of the garden.
The standout part of this job was the containment. Rather than run the cables in standard trunking, we specified steel conduit throughout. Steel conduit gives proper mechanical protection — it shrugs off knocks, garden tools, weather and general wear that an outdoor structure is exposed to — so the wiring is protected for the full life of the building, with a clean, professional finish on the exposed timber frame.
We carried out the full first fix through the timber roof joists and uprights, planned the lighting layout with the client, fitted weatherproof outdoor enclosures for the connections, and ran a dedicated data cable so the room works as a proper home office. Every circuit tested, certified and notified under Part P.
Garden rooms, offices and outbuildings are some of the most common work we do across Hyde and the wider Tameside area. If you're having one built, get the electrics specified properly from day one — supply, lighting, sockets, heating and data planned in from the start always beats bolting it on at the end.
