Our Design Approach

Great lighting isn't just about picking fittings — it's about understanding how you use each space and designing light to match.

Layered Lighting Plans

Every room receives a bespoke plan that balances task, ambient, and accent layers for a scheme that’s both practical and beautiful.

Colour Temperature Advice

We select warm, neutral, or cool white tones for each zone so the light quality matches the room’s purpose and your personal style.

Dimming & Scene Control

Programmable dimming scenes let you switch from bright working light to relaxed evening ambiance at the touch of a button or voice command.

Bedroom & Living Room Design

Soft, warm lighting schemes for bedrooms and living areas that create a relaxing atmosphere while still providing enough light for reading and tasks.

Kitchen Lighting Expertise

Zoned kitchen layouts with under-cabinet task lighting, pendant islands, and dimmable downlights – designed to make cooking and entertaining effortless.

Feature & Accent Lighting

Highlight artwork, shelving, alcoves, and architectural details with carefully positioned spotlights, LED strips, and picture lights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Task lighting provides focused illumination for activities like cooking, reading, or working – think under-cabinet strips in a kitchen or a desk lamp. Ambient lighting is the general background illumination that fills a room, usually from ceiling pendants, downlights, or wall washers. Accent lighting draws attention to features such as artwork, shelving, or architectural details using spotlights or LED strips. A well-designed scheme balances all three layers so the space is both functional and atmospheric.

Colour temperature is measured in Kelvin (K). Warm white (2700–3000K) creates a cosy, relaxing feel and is ideal for living rooms and bedrooms. Neutral white (3500–4000K) suits kitchens, bathrooms, and home offices where clarity matters. Cool white (5000K+) is typically used in commercial or garage settings. We recommend colour temperatures for each room based on how you use the space and your personal preference.

Absolutely. Dimming is a key part of any good lighting design because it lets you adjust the mood and brightness for different activities – bright for cooking, low for a film night. We install compatible LED dimmers, smart dimmers, and can set up pre-programmed scenes so you can switch between lighting moods at the touch of a button.

You’re welcome to supply your own fittings, or we can source them for you. We work with a range of suppliers and can recommend fixtures that suit your design brief and budget. Either way, we’ll confirm compatibility with the electrical plan before installation begins.

A typical whole-house project takes one to two weeks from initial consultation to completion, depending on the size of the property and the complexity of the design. The consultation and design phase usually takes two to three days, followed by the installation. We work around your schedule and keep disruption to a minimum.
